Jeff Fortenberry Visits Lincoln Lutheran

Fortenberry visits
On November 23, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry was the guest speaker at the morning assembly as well as Mr. Bassett's government class. It was organized by student Katie Voorman and her mom. He talked in front of the entire school about what a congressman does for people and how he wishes to change things for the better.

So how did Lincoln Lutheran become so fortunate to have Congressman Fortenberry make a guest appearance? Well, it turns out that Senior Katie Voorman interns at Fortenberry's office a few times a week. She thought that it would be a good idea if he came to speak and so she contacted him. He agreed to fit us into his busy schedule. Mr. Bassett said that it worked out perfectly that his class happened to be right before the assembly time so he could speak to both.

During the assembly Fortenberry addressed complicated issues facing our world today. At the end he left time for students to ask questions. He talked about his opinions on the war and health care. It was very much appreciated that Congressman Fortenberry visited Lincoln Lutheran.
