High School Football

PROGRAM SPIRITUALITY & SUCCESS: The Warrior football program strives to serve Jesus Christ as a medium for Spiritual growth, witness, and outreach. Annually, the team selects a Biblically based theme for the season -- the 2013 theme is "ENDURE" (Matthew 24:13  "But he who ENDURES to the end will be saved.").  Using the season theme as a basis, the senior players develop and lead chapels not only for Lincoln Lutheran but also for the Lutheran elementary schools in the city. Other Spiritually focused team activities include: beginning and ending each team function with prayer; mid-practice devotion; Thursday night devotions; Camp Luther servant event; and an annual team witness poster.

The Lord has blessed the Warrior football program and individual athletes with much ‘earthly’ success & recognition over the years: 5 playoff appearances in 11 years of varsity participation (’96, ’97, ’01, ’03, ’05), 1 district championship - '01, 1 undefeated regular season - ‘97, 3 all-state athletes (Justin Lewallen - 2nd team super state punter in ‘00 , Jon Ziegler - C1 all-state defensive back in ‘01, & Nathan Hannemann - C1 all-state linebacker in '03), 1 Shrine Bowl selection (Jon Ziegler - ’01), 49-42 program win/loss record. The Lincoln Lutheran football program debuted in the fall of 1995. That first squad of Trojans (the mascot name at that time) was comprised of 18 total freshmen and sophomores and played four 8-man junior varsity games. The team won its inaugural game over Omaha Brownell-Talbot and finished with a 2-2 season record.
