2017 Gala - "Transformed"
2017 Lincoln Lutheran Gala - "Transformed"
The Lutheran Education Foundation (LEF) raised over $127,000 at its 22nd annual Lincoln Lutheran Gala and Dinner Auction on March 17, 2017 at the Embassy Suites.
Proceeds from the silent and live auctions will support the Christian education of current and future students. For the first time gala attendees were able to utilize mobile bidding during the silent auction. Auction planners tapped the expertise of Lincoln Lutheran students to support attendees in the use of this new technology.
Kristin Bennett, development assistant and Gala coordinator, said she was excited to have new items on the auction and many new attendees. “It was very humbling to see everyone get together for a great night of celebration of Lutheran education.”
Pastor Luke Schnake was honored as the 2017 Lincoln Lutheran Founders Award winner. Wil Tewes received the LEF Lifetime Commit to the Lord Award. These awards recognized ways in which these individuals have worked to enhance the ministry of Lincoln Lutheran and Lutheran education to the community of Lincoln.
“It was a humbling experience to stand in front of 400 people and watch as attendees donated more than $30,000 in support of needs-based scholarships in just a few short minutes,” said Lloyd Wagnitz, Director of Ministry Advancement. “The event brings people together in generous support of students and for an evening of fun and fellowship.”
Derek Trutna, chairman of the Gala Committee, added: “This year’s gala was a great success. Year after year, the gala continues to be a special evening for the Lincoln Lutheran community. We especially thank all of those that attended and supported this year's event. It is because of their generosity and the help of all the volunteers and staff that this event continues to be so successful."
Next year’s Gala is scheduled for March 23, 2018.
