Chafik Barbar attended Lincoln Lutheran from 1998-2001. After graduation, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics from UNL, then a Masters of Business Administration from MIT. He has experience developing software for the ag industry and is a successful entrepreneur as the founder and CEO of Marble Technologies, a company that creates intelligent automation for food processing.
Chafik and his wife Rachel have three beautiful children. Nora, 7, Lina, 5 and Jude, 4.
Chafik moved to Lincoln in 1998 from Syria. Being an immigrant in a new place was difficult and Lincoln Lutheran became like a family to him. He says, “Lincoln Lutheran was the support system I needed and the foundation of everything I’ve done in my life ever since.”
Today Chafik and his family give back to the community by providing logistical and emotional support for Syrian refugees in Lincoln and Omaha.
His advice to current Lincoln Lutheran students is to always be curious and empathetic. The world has big challenges that present big opportunities. Being curious and asking questions will help you understand the root of any challenge. Being empathetic puts you in the shoes of those who suffer from that challenge. If you can do these two things, you will be able to find a solution.
We are thrilled to honor Mr. Chafik Barbar as our 2023 Distinguished Young Alumni. Congratulations, Chafik!
