The Herzog Foundation, a charitable organization that seeks to accelerate the development of quality, Christ-centered education in the United States, has selected Lincoln Lutheran art teacher, Erin Seitz, as one of their 2024 Christian Teachers of the Year. Seven hundred Christian teachers from across the United States were nominated for the honor; only twelve were selected.
According to Darrell Jones, President of the Herzog Foundation, the nominees are chosen based on their innovative teaching methods and lasting impact on students. “In Christian schools, exceptional teachers abound,” says Jones. “Our twelve Teachers of the Year stand as shining examples.”
Lincoln Lutheran Head of School, Sheila Psencik, nominated Seitz for the award. “Erin is so deserving of this honor”, says Psencik. “She is a difference-maker. Every day, she shines the light of Jesus to everyone around her.”
Seitz and the other honorees will travel to Washington, D.C. this fall for a special ceremony at the Museum of the Bible where they will be recognized for their contributions to Christian education. "I am deeply humbled and grateful to receive the Christian Teacher of the Year award from the Herzog Foundation”, says Seitz. “I give the glory to God. Every virtue I hold comes from His grace alone!”
Seitz believes her recognition is a reflection of the support and teamwork within the Lincoln Lutheran community, as well as the dedication and commitment of her colleagues. “This award is as much theirs as it is mine”, says Seitz. “We work together to fulfill our mission to equip young people to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ by providing an excellent Christ-centered education.”
