5th Grade Visit Day is the perfect opportunity for your future 6th grader to find out if Lincoln Lutheran is the right fit for them. It is an afternoon where the current student body is dismissed and the faculty is entirely dedicated to showing our 5th grade visitors (aka prospective 6th graders) a first hand look at what it'd be like to attend.
Dani Thompson, current LL 6th grader, took the day off from Meadowlane Elementary School last year to attend 5th Grade Visit Day. "I was nervous at first because I came by myself and I was from public school", says Dani. "Right away we did a rock, paper, scissors game and then I wasn't nervous anymore and immediately felt welcome."
The afternoon starts in the gym where students hear from Head of School Sheila Wallingford, as well as faculty and students who describe the Lincoln Lutheran experience. From there, students break into small groups and visit classrooms where they participate in fun, educational activities conducted by Lincoln Lutheran teachers. The day concludes with a closing ceremony in the gym and students being picked up at 3:00 pm.
When asked what she'd tell 5th graders from LPS who may be apprehensive about the day, Dani said, "You should definitely come! It's amazing and the activities are fun. Last year, I met really nice people, then when I started 6th grade here, I didn't feel alone because I already knew some people."
