Every Valentine’s Day, Lincoln Lutheran comes together to celebrate the Hearts for Jesus Raffle, a special tradition that fills our school with love, joy, and a reminder of the unconditional grace Jesus offers us. This event, started by Head of School, Mrs. Wallingford three years ago, has quickly become a beloved part of our school’s culture.
On this special day, every student is given three raffle tickets—just like the love of Jesus, they don’t have to earn them. They are simply a gift, a reflection of Christ’s love for us, which is given freely without expectation or condition. It’s a reminder that we don’t need to work for God’s love; He gives it to us out of His infinite grace.
The excitement of the day is contagious as staff members bring in a variety of Valentine’s Day goodies like stuffed animals, cupcakes and homemade cookies. It’s a day of fun, but also a time to reflect on how God showers us with love, not only on Valentine’s Day, but every day.
The Hearts for Jesus Raffle is more than just a celebration of Valentine’s Day—it’s a celebration of the love and grace that Jesus shows us all. Through this simple yet meaningful tradition, we are reminded that, just as Jesus loves us without condition, we too are called to love and give generously to others.
We’re grateful to Mrs. Wallingford for starting this beautiful tradition and to all the staff who continue to make it a day filled with joy and reflection. May the Hearts for Jesus Raffle remind us each year of the incredible love of Christ, and inspire us to share that love with others.
